Tricia M. Leahey, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown Medical School and the Miriam Hospital’s Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center. She received her doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from Kent State University and completed her clinical internship at Brown Medical School. Her research focuses on behavioral interventions for the treatment of obesity and developing treatments to improve bariatric surgery patients’ adherence to postsurgical recommendations. Dr. Leahey currently has an NIH grant examining the effects of social influence on weight control; specifically, the impact of social comparisons, social norms, and social identity on weight loss and weight loss maintenance.
