Angela Marinilli Pinto, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown Medical School. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Biology from Harvard University in 1997 and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a subspecialty in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2004. Dr. Pinto completed her clinical psychology internship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and her postdoctoral research fellowship with Dr. Rena Wing in the Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center/The Miriam Hospital at Brown. In 2006, Dr. Pinto received a K12 career development award through the NIH/Brown University BIRCWH (Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health) Program. Her research interests and experiences include the treatment of eating disorders and obesity. Dr. Pinto’s eating disorder research has involved examination of how cognitive factors such as motivation and self-efficacy impact treatment outcome. Her specific interests in obesity include dissemination of standard behavioral weight loss approaches through collaboration with community-based commercial programs and development of cost-effective programs to treat overweight and obesity.
